Luke 10:38–42 In Luke 10, Jesus enters the home of Martha and Mary. While Martha becomes anxious and distracted by all her serving, Mary sits at Jesus’ feet and listens. Pastor Dave teaches that Jesus isn't correcting Martha's work—He’s revealing a heart that's crowded and troubled. -Anxiousness reveals deeper patterns. Jesus says, “You are anxious and troubled about many things”—not just dinner. Anxiety often signals that our hearts are overloaded and our focus misplaced. -We moralize our preferences. Like Martha, we often believe our way is the right way—and expect others (even God) to align with it. But frustration can rise when things don’t go our way. -One thing is necessary. Jesus points to Mary and says she has chosen “the good portion”. This isn’t just rest—it’s relationship. It's not about doing more for Jesus, but being with Jesus. -Faith over reaction. Like Martha later in John 11, God can grow our faith through delay, pain, and conflict. He’s always working intentionally, even when we don’t understand.
